Mahmutlar Beach
Located east of Alanya, Mahmutlar Beach is one of the city’s most notable beaches, distinguished by its long Mediterranean coastline and the walking and biking trails that run along the shore. The beach, which runs parallel to the town center of Mahmutlar, is a popular spot not only for swimming but also for taking a walk and enjoying the Mediterranean views.

About
Mahmutlar Beach is the coastal area stretching along the Mediterranean shore in the Mahmutlar neighborhood, located east of Alanya. Since Mahmutlar is a densely populated area, access to the beach is quite convenient, and it is possible to combine a visit to the beach with daily life in the area.
Mahmutlar Beach
One of Mahmutlar’s most distinctive features is its long stretch of coastline. Since the coastal terrain and access to the sea can vary at different points along the shore, it would not be accurate to describe the entire Mahmutlar Beach as either entirely sandy or entirely pebbly.
When choosing a spot to enter the water, it is advisable to check the shoreline conditions and, especially on days with rough waves, take any safety warnings into account.
Walking and Biking Along the Beach
Mahmutlar Beach is also a key part of Alanya’s coastal bike path network. The Kestel–Mahmutlar–Kargıcak section of Alanya Municipality’s approximately 30-kilometer continuous bike path project, which stretches from Dinek to Kargıcak, passes through Mahmutlar Beach.
For this reason, a visit to Mahmutlar need not be limited to just the sea and sunbathing. Taking a walk or bike ride along the beach in the morning or evening is also one of the delightful options in the area.
Enjoying the Sea in Mahmutlar
Since the Mahmutlar coastline is on the open Mediterranean coast, the sea views and wave conditions may vary depending on the weather. While it may be suitable for swimming on calm days, extra caution is advised on windy and wavy days.
There is an official example of Mahmutlar Beach being used for water sports: The Antalya Provincial Directorate of Culture and Tourism states that Mahmutlar Beach can be used as a landing site for paragliding flights launched from the foothills of Mount Cebel-i Reis.
Beach Life
Since Mahmutlar’s residential areas are quite close to the beach, it’s easy to combine a visit to the beach with stops at nearby restaurants, cafes, and other daily necessities.
Particularly bustling during the summer, the area can be thought of not as an isolated beach used only by tourists, but rather as a long stretch of coastline integrated into Mahmutlar’s urban life.
What to Do in Mahmutlar?
After swimming, you can take a walk along the beach or use the bike path. As part of a broader Eastern Alanya itinerary, Mahmutlar can be explored together with Kestel, Kargıcak, and further on, Demirtaş.
