Demirtaş Beach

Located east of Alanya, Demirtaş Beach is one of the areas that stands out for its long Mediterranean coastline and natural shoreline. Home to sand lilies and loggerhead sea turtles, Demirtaş Beach offers a beach experience immersed in nature—a stark contrast to the crowded beaches in the city center.

About

Demirtaş Beach is the coastal stretch along the Mediterranean Sea in the Demirtaş neighborhood, located east of Alanya. It is one of the spots that those seeking a more natural coastline—away from the crowded beaches of Alanya’s city center and tourist areas—can add to their itinerary.

Natural Demirtaş Beach

One of the most important features that sets Demirtaş apart from other beaches in our guide is its natural habitats.

As part of a project carried out on Demirtaş Beach in 2025 by the Alanya Municipality and the Directorate of Nature Conservation and National Parks, sand lilies were placed under protection, and cleanup efforts were conducted in the living and nesting areas of loggerhead sea turtles.

For this reason, when introducing Demirtaş Beach, it is appropriate to mention not only the sea and the sun but also the region’s importance in terms of natural habitats.

Sea and Beach

Demirtaş Beach is located on the open Mediterranean coast. The Antalya Provincial Directorate of Culture and Tourism notes that, thanks to the mountains running parallel to the sea in the eastern part of Antalya, extensive natural beaches have formed in the region stretching from Side to the vicinity of Gazipaşa.

However, since there is insufficient official data to characterize the entire Demirtaş Beach as having a uniform type of sand, gravel, or water depth, we do not list these as definitive characteristics.

Be Mindful of Loggerhead Sea Turtles

The presence of loggerhead sea turtles’ habitats and nesting areas on the Demirtaş coastline imposes an important responsibility on visitors.

It is particularly important during the nesting season to avoid entering marked areas, not to leave trash on the beach, not to damage the sand lilies, and to comply with conservation warnings.

Let’s make sure to include this section in our guide; it makes the content more valuable than a typical beach description.

Sand Lilies

Another natural treasure on Demirtaş Beach is the sand lilies. An environmental study conducted by the municipality indicates that the areas where these plants are found have been placed under protection.

During your visit, please refrain from picking the sand lilies and take care not to damage the areas where the plants grow.

Nature Trail in Demirtaş

Demirtaş is worth visiting not only for its beach but also as a gateway to the natural beauty of Alanya’s inland regions. The Antalya Provincial Directorate of Culture and Tourism identifies the Kaş, Sapadere, Tokar, and Söğüt highlands within the Taurus Mountains north of Demirtaş; it notes that natural landscapes line the Demirtaş Creek along part of these routes.

Therefore, in the future, we may create a separate travel route on our portal Demirtaş Beach → Demirtaş Creek → Sapadere Canyon.
