Lovers' Cave
Located on Alanya’s historic peninsula, Lovers’ Cave is one of the sea caves that stands out for its dual-entrance structure and passageway approximately 75 meters long. About
Lovers' Cave is one of the striking sea caves surrounding Alanya's historic peninsula. While the Alanya Municipality locates the cave in the southwestern part of the historic peninsula, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism lists the sea caves around Alanya among the natural beauties accessible via boat tours.
Features of Lovers’ Cave
One of the cave’s most interesting features is that it has two entrances. The Ministry of Culture and Tourism’s promotional material for Alanya states that the cave is approximately 75 meters long. The Alanya Municipality, meanwhile, notes that it is possible to pass through the cave to the other side of the peninsula.
Another promotional page from the Ministry states that the cave entrance is approximately two meters above sea level and that the entrance area features stalactites, stalagmites, and columns
The Story of Lovers’ Cave
As with some of Alanya’s other sea caves, there are various legends surrounding Lovers’ Cave. According to one of the legends shared in the Ministry of Culture and Tourism’s promotional material, it is said that pirates used the cave in the past to hide their captives and loot. It would be more accurate to consider this information not as a historically verified event but rather as a legend passed down about the cave.
Lovers’ Cave on Boat Tours
Lovers’ Cave, along with Pirates’ Cave and Phosphorus Cave, is among the well-known sea caves around the Alanya Peninsula. The Ministry of Culture and Tourism also notes that these three caves are accessible by boat.
For this reason, a visit to the cave can be considered as part of boat tours around the peninsula departing from Alanya Port. Since boat routes may vary depending on the operator and sea conditions, it is advisable to check in advance whether the tour passes by the cave.
